Patient Experience: Theory and Practice

About the Speaker:

Dr. Sharon Chekijian is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and a faculty member in the Section of Global Health and International Emergency Medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Yale University. She is also the Medical Director of the Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner group in the Department of Emergency Medicine as well as the founding Medical Director of the PA/NP residency program.
Dr. Chekijian has experience in consulting and research in emergency medicine and global public health. Her public health interests lie in emergency care systems’ development in low and middle-income countries, unintentional injury prevention in low and middle-income countries, cardiac care in low and middle-income countries and the development of organ transplantation programs abroad.
Dr. Chekijian has experience working as a global health specialist having led or participated in projects in the Republic of Armenia and Iraq. Dr. Chekijian’s current work includes analyzing data from a cardiopulmonary resuscitation project in Armenia, developing injury prevention programs in Armenia to address car crashes and pedestrian morbidity and mortality. Dr Chekijian has previously consulted for the World Bank and the US Department of State.
Dr Chekijian is currently working on a film that addresses human rights as it relates to the Armenian Genocide of 1915.
