Yerevan Testing Days 2019 Conference Hosted at AUA

YEREVAN, Armenia – From April 29 to May 1, the American University of Armenia (AUA) Akian College of Science and Engineering (CSE) co-organized and hosted Yerevan Testing Days 2019, an event dedicated to software testing that brought together over 500 tech experts and enthusiasts from Armenia and abroad. Among the co-organizers were Armenian Software Testing Qualifications Board (ArmSTQB), Quality Testing Lab, TestingArt, and Armenian Quality Assurance Association.

The three-day event included seminars, masterclasses, a number of parallel discussions involving more than 25 professionals from all over the world, as well as many other cutting-edge and engaging activities connected with software testing. The conference aimed to further develop testing expertise in Armenia that will affect the quality of software via the array of companies developing software solutions in Armenia.

Yerevan Testing Days commenced with the Armenia Software Testing Cup, a testing competition between 14 software testing teams. The Synopsys Armenia team won the competition and the PicsArt and Questrade teams took the second and third places, respectively. The winning teams received prizes from companies ArmSTQB, Ucraft, and DataArt.

The official opening ceremony of the conference took place on April 30, featuring remarks by Gegham Vardanyan, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia (RA), CSE Dean Dr. Aram Hajian, and AUA alumna Nane Vardanyan (BS CS ‘17). The two-day conference was fully dedicated to theoretical and practical seminars that covered modern tools, problems, and testing techniques. Presentations and workshops were conducted by over 30 testing specialists, including Eric Proegler the Director of Test Engineering for Medidata Solutions in San Francisco, California, Ilari Henrik Aegerter, the Managing Director of House of Test GmbH, Gualtiero Bazzana, the Managing Vice-President at ALTEN Group with responsibility on Southern Europe, and Graham Bath, a principal consultant at T-Systems in the division Digital Integration, Agile Testing – among others.

“Year by year we are witnessing the rapid growth of the IT industry in Armenia. Events such as the Yerevan Testing Days conference are essential in bringing together key stakeholder groups, including students, developers, government, and industry representatives so that we can learn from each other, embrace best practices, and continue to underscore Armenia’s place on the world map of software development,” noted Dr. Hajian.

Alongside the talks and the competitions, many prominent Armenian companies, including the sponsors of the event, showcased their companies and services to anyone interested.

The RA Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies, Hakob Arshakyan, who was present at the closing ceremony of Yerevan Testing Days, highlighted the importance of organizing such events in Armenia and expressed the hope that it will be held annually.
