Vache Gabrielyan Appointed Dean of the Manoogian Simone College of Business and Economics

YEREVAN, Armenia ‒ The American University of Armenia (AUA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Vache Gabrielyan as Dean of the Manoogian Simone College of Business and Economics (CBE), effective January 8, 2019.

Dr. Gabrielyan specializes in public administration and economics. He received his undergraduate degree in economics from Yerevan State University (YSU) and his graduate and doctoral degrees in public administration from Rutgers University. Dr. Gabrielyan has an extensive record of publications, including books, book chapters, and articles in local and international peer-reviewed journals. He served on the editorial boards of International Journal of Organization Theory and Behavior, Public Performance Review, and Public Voices.

In the words of one of his referees, “Vache would be a very strong candidate for the deanship of many business schools worldwide. He possesses all the strengths you might seek in a dean. I am confident that he will serve in this position with distinction for many years. He is certain to be your best investment.”

Dr. Gabrielyan joined AUA in 1999 as Adjunct Assistant Professor at the department of Political Science. In 2018, he assumed the position of Adjunct Associate Professor. Throughout his teaching career, he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at Rutgers University and YSU.

During the past two decades, he has served in many decision-making positions, including Vice-Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia from 2008 to 2010, Minister of Finance from 2010 to 2012, Minister-Chief of Government Staff from 2013 to 2014, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister from May 2014 to November 2014, as well as Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia and Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms from 2014 to 2018. Recently, he was appointed by the Acting Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan to represent the government on the Panel of the Manoogian Simone Research Fund which is administered by AUA.

AUA President Dr. Armen Der Kiureghian commented on Dr. Gabrielyan’s appointment: “We are very pleased that Dr. Gabrielyan is joining us as the Dean of the Manoogian Simone College of Business and Economics. His vast experience in teaching, research, and administration is ideally suited to the kind of leadership that we need to further develop and enhance our programs in the CBE.
