Industry-Talent Direct First Internship Fair Hosted at AUA
2 min readYEREVAN, Armenia ‒ On July 21, 2018, the American University of Armenia (AUA)’s Akian College of Science and Engineering (CSE) organized the first-of-its-type internship fair at AUA titled “Industry-Talent Direct.”
The fair aimed at providing a networking platform to companies and students to discuss interesting projects and to learn about professional development and career opportunities in renowned companies in Armenia.
Nowadays, the number of the companies competing for the best talent is increasing day by day. This internship fair provided an excellent opportunity to the companies to share their projects and ideas with students. Many of the companies consider the interns potential employees and as a source of fresh and innovative ideas.
Such fairs are also highly useful for students as they are given the opportunity to network with various professionals and companies, thus being able to make a better career choice.
“Our major goal was for students to get a first-hand understanding about the daily work-life of professionals in the areas of their interest. We believe it is extremely important for them to have as realistic a picture of what it takes to become a successful professional and how they can prepare for the life of a professional, while studying at the university,” said Artur Khalatyan AUA CSE Industry Liaison.
The inaugural internship fair was a huge success considering the fact that many companies showed strong interest in the potential interns who attended.
More than 20 companies and startups in the IT and telecommunications spheres took part in the fair, including EarlyOne queue management system, SFL software development company, UCom telecommunication company, Macadamian UX design & software development firm, PicsArt image editing app and creative social network, IUNetworks IT company, NoyMed contract research organization, Teamable employee referral and diversity hiring platform, Optym software solutions company, VMWare cloud computing and platform virtualization software and services provider, Arloopa augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) apps and games development company, Mentor Graphics electronic design automation multinational corporation, Dasaran.am educational platform, BlockTech blockchain application development company, Instigate Design parallel systems development company, Menu.am food delivery company, Synergy International Systems global software company, VivaCell-MTS telecommunications operator, AmeriaBank, and Fimetech software company, among others.
Based on this successful effort, AUA aims at organizing similar events more often and for wider audiences.
