VANADZOR, Armenia ‒ On July 7, 2018, the Entrepreneurship and Product Innovation Center (EPIC) of the American University of Armenia (AUA) participated in the second Engineering Forum-Expo that took place at the Vanadzor Technology Center (VTC).

The aim of the Forum-Expo was to demonstrate latest achievements of the engineering sector in Armenia and discuss engineering education and business environment challenges, as well as global developments of the industry. It brought together representatives of the engineering and manufacturing professions who had the opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas about electronics, communication technologies and 5G, mathematical simulation, unmanned vehicles, automotive, bio-engineering and chemistry, and big data, among others.

At the Forum, EPIC was represented by Sargis Zeytunyan, Chair of AUA’s Industrial Engineering and Systems Management (IESM) program and Director of EPIC’s Prototyping Laboratory. He met with numerous companies to discuss their projects, engineering challenges, and future plans.

Zeytunyan also presented EPIC’s unique, one-of-a-kind in Armenia prototyping laboratory which can provide quick, easy, and high-quality product prototypes. The sophisticated instrumentation of EPIC includes the revolutionary FARO EDGE 3D scanner, which is the only one in Armenia. It is considered one of the most advanced measuring arms ever introduced. The laboratory also has multiple CNC milling machines, 3D printers, and a highly versatile vacuum casting system that are available for commercial service. Many discussions followed related to EPIC’s support and collaboration in a number of private-sector projects with engineering and design companies.

The Entrepreneurship and Product Innovation Center (EPIC) is a platform for promoting entrepreneurial education, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and startup venture incubation. EPIC provides an ecosystem for the American University of Armenia’s (AUA) emerging entrepreneurs consisting of first-class facilities and collaborative workspace, programs and events, and a network of mentors, advisors and investors. EPIC fosters the understanding and application of entrepreneurship with students and faculty at AUA to craft high-impact multidisciplinary ventures.
