BULGARIA – From July 27-August 2, 2015, two American University of Armenia (AUA) students, Artyom Kosyan and Erik Harutyunyan, took part in the Annual International Mathematics Competition (IMC) in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. Out of 74 participating universities from around the world, Artyom took home the 2nd place prize. The event was organized by University College London and hosted by the American University in Bulgaria.

The competition is provisioned for students completing their first, second, third, or fourth year of university education and consists of two sessions, five hours each.  Problems range from areas of mathematics such as algebra, analysis (real and complex), geometry, and combinatorics.

Artyom is a third year student in AUA’s Master of Business Administration program. It has become a tradition for AUA and other higher education institutions in Armenia to participate in the Olympiad. This is AUA’s second year participating.
