Each film was followed by short, informative, and educational discussions with guest speakers. The purpose of the series was to raise public awareness of different genocides of the past in order to prevent genocides in the future.

The film series began on April 9th with a screening of “The Armenian Genocide,” a 2006 film by Andrew Goldberg, and was followed by a discussion with AUA Professor Nareg Seferian. On April 14, “Schindler’s List,” a famous 1993 Steven Spielberg film about the Holocaust, was shown. On April 17, “Hotel Rwanda,” a 2004 Terry George film about the Rwandan Genocide, was shown, and on April 21, “The Roots of War: Bloody Bosnia,” a 1992 Christophe Talczeewski film about the Bosnian Genocide was shown. The last three film screenings featured discussions with AUA Visiting Professor and genocide expert Yair Auron.
