AUA Yerevan Alumni Club Celebrates Official Opening

YEREVAN, Armenia – The American University of Armenia (AUA) Yerevan Alumni Club held its first event on May 23, 2014. Nearly 50 people attended the event, which offered an informal, engaging opportunity for alumni to socialize and network. The event was organized by the Board of the Club, comprised of eight people.

The event opened with Board members giving a presentation about the Club and its upcoming activities. AUA President Dr. Bruce M. Boghosian, who was the special guest of the evening, also gave a talk about AUA’s recent achievements and current programs. Attendees of the event used this opportunity to share their ideas about future activities for the Club.

The AUA Yerevan Alumni Club aims to create an active community of AUA alumni from which each member can benefit. All AUA alumni are by definition members of the Club, but the most active members will have a special status. The Club will organize various activities, among them career-oriented events, professional networking opportunities, public lectures, and discussions with distinguished guest speakers, as well as cultural and entertainment events, including movie nights and countryside trips.

The mission of the AUA Office of Alumni Relations and Career Development is to develop, coordinate and promote programs for our alumni to keep them connected and involved with the AUA and one another, and to create a culture of philanthropy by encouraging alumni to contribute their time, talent, and resources to the advancement of the University.

The career development function of the Office of Alumni Relations and Career Development is to contribute to career achievements of AUA graduates through enhancing their job finding skills. Additionally, to provide job placement services to students/alumni and develop strong and tangible links between employers and the university, to allow for the Office of Alumni Relations and Career Development to support and assist students and alumni in their professional development.
