< 1 min read

YEREVAN–Last month, over 30 students received a crash course in the employment-seeking process during the first ever two-day workshop organized by the Alumni and Career Development Office (ACDO) at the American University of Armenia (AUA).

The workshop series was held on on April 10 and 11. Titled, “How to Stand Out in the Job Market: A Recruitment Agent’s Perspective,” the workshops focused on preparing students for the job application process by giving them the tools to produce a strong portfolio and the practical skills to make a positive impression.

ACDO invited three guest speakers from ArmenTel CJSC and Zigzag LLC to present their perspective on hiring processes. The first session, titled “The First Impression: Resumes, Cover Letters, and Online Portfolios,” featured Head of Recruitment and Retention Division and AUA alumna Astghik Hovhannisyan, who gave students a unique perspective into the ArmenTel CJSC application review process. She also presented a step-by-step guide on how to construct a strong resume, cover letter, and online portfolio. Students from all faculties were eager to pose questions about their own resumes in this interactive workshop.

The second session, titled “Beyond Your Resume,” was co-led by AUA alumna Liana Ohanyan, the human resources department head for Zigzag LLC, and Varduhi Harutyunyan, recruitment and promotion manager of Zigzag LLC. The speakers provided an overview of the Zigzag LLC recruitment process, giving participants an insider’s perspective into how employees are selected based on their job portfolio and personal skills.

ACDO is committed to providing career-related support to all AUA students and alumni by offering services such as resume and cover letter review, as well as tutorials in successful interviewing.
